The Mayan Calendar - Let's try to make sense of this complicated subject

Hi All,

Today I would like to examine the Mayan Calendar. I find this a very fascinating topic as it was written over two thousand years ago and is very accurate and goes beyond the present and into the future with predictions. The calendar is more precise than the standard calendar used throughout the world today.

The Maya Indians, who are located in Mexico and Central America, actually made two calendars. One was a sacred almanac of 260 days and one was based on a solar calendar with 365 days. They used complicated mathematical equations and the solar system to make their calendars. As does the astrologers we know about the Mayans also felt the solar system influences a person’s life based on the day he or she was born. It is a very complex calendar. Too complex for this blog and I’m trying to simplify things for you. There is good reading with more details about this on the Internet and in books. However, not everything the Mayans have predicted for the future is known. There are things they do not want the world to know. Hmmm, what is more important than the year 2012 where they predict the world will be in for a major change?

There is a lot of speculation of why the calendar ends in the year 2012. We do not know why. Many speculate it’s because that’s when the world will end. Some say the world will be in for a lot of death and destruction followed by peace and tranquility. Maybe it goes beyond the year 2012 and we don’t know about it. Perhaps the Mayan priests who still follow it today know. I guess we’ll have to wait until 2012 to find something out.

If you would like to see what’s in store for you based on the Mayan Calendar, go to the following website:

According to the chart I am a Blue Rhythmic Monkey. Clicking on the link tells me I’m very playful. Yes that’s true.

There’s a very interesting take on the calendar and the people who developed it. It is very advanced and complicated thinking. Why the Mayans?   Well one person I spoke to thinks the Mayans themselves are an alien race. They have wisdom far beyond the reach of the average human being. The person I spoke to believes they were put on earth already armed with the knowledge they needed to construct and develop the calendar. This all makes sense if you think about it. The Mayan calendar is based on the solar system. How did they even know about this?

If you take a look at the website,
you will find a good explanation of the Mayan calendar. It explains how the year 2012, (December 21, 2012 as an exact date), is derived at for the ending of the calendar.

One thing the Mayans predicted in their calendars is the changes that took place on earth starting in July 1992. This dealt with time shifts causing changes in weather patterns. If you will recall, (or look it up), the most devastating storm season in history started with Hurricane Andrew in 1992.   Then in 1993 the midwestern portion of the United States had flooding that broke all records. In July 1994 the comet, Shoemaker-Levy collided with Jupiter.

Another prediction was for July 11, 1991. They predicted a life-altering event for humankind. There was a total solar eclipse on that day in Mexico. In addition 17 people, who were not together in Mexico City, videotaped a silvery disc-shaped object hovering above the city. That was the beginning of an influx of UFO sightings in Mexico. My source for this part of my posting came from the website

Actually, it was only several months ago in which the head of the church in Mexico addressed all Mexicans as “aliens and Mexicans.” Doesn’t that make you wonder?

While listening to Coast to Coast AM they had a discussion about the Mayan calendar and the year 2012. He had as his guest Lawrence E. Joseph, the writer of a popular book on the subject entitled, “Apocalypse 2012”. Here is a link to purchase the book:

As George Noory, the weekday host of this radio show puts it, “Don’t be scared. Be prepared.”

Calendars

I have looked at both the Mayan and Hebrew calendars, it surely seems to me that the
Hebrew Calendar is much more complicated. The Hebrew Calendar is both Solar and Lunar and reconciles each time the two come into conjunction.

I am not however an authority on either calendar and don't speak or write either language so my opinion is just that, not authoritive in any objective sense.
